Zanu PF Lauds Strengthened Zimbabwe-China Ties, Highlighting Economic Gains

Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa has praised President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s handling of the economy, describing his leadership as pivotal in reviving national growth.

He also took aim at economist Professor  Gift Mugano, accusing him of failing to grasp the government’s economic strategy.

Speaking during a press briefing at the Zanu PF headquarters on Monday, Mutsvangwa said he had long witnessed Mnangagwa’s capacity for implementing successful projects, both before and after assuming the presidency.

“I have been working with President Mnangagwa my whole life and I know he carried out various successful projects before becoming President,” Mutsvangwa said.

He challenged Professor  Mugano to acknowledge the progress being made under the current administration, insisting that the country’s economic trajectory reflected deliberate planning.

“I told Professor  Mugano openly that they need to understand President Mnangagwa’s ways of doing this. Under his leadership we have experienced economic growth,” Mutsvangwa said.

Drawing parallels with China’s development model, Mutsvangwa said Zimbabwe was following a similar path of state-led transformation.

“I have been to China and I saw what happened there. That’s the route that Zimbabwe is taking. I am telling you, you will see,” he added.

President Mnangagwa’s administration has consistently defended its economic reforms, citing infrastructure development, agriculture support, and investment promotion as cornerstones of recovery.

However, critics such as Professor  Mugano have questioned the sustainability of current policies, warning of persistent inflation and structural imbalances.
