Zimbabwe’s digital transformation efforts continue to gain momentum with the launch of the TelOne Centre for Learning Innovation Hub in Harare on Tuesday. The new facility supports the government’s Heritage Based Education 5.0 model and is already operational.
Students are developing solutions aimed at addressing real national challenges. Among them is Munashe Kamuche, who created Bako Emergency System, software that links people in distress to the nearest emergency responders. Another student, Ropafadzo Chamboko, showcased Med Connect, an online platform that enables virtual doctor consultations and prescriptions.
TelOne Centre for Learning CEO, Engineer Lawrence Nkala, said the hub will serve as an incubator for student and industry-led innovations, helping bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application. ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera also applauded institutions that are embracing technology and producing market-ready graduates.
The launch coincided with the institution’s 10th graduation ceremony, where more than 600 students received their qualifications. Graduates expressed optimism, saying they are ready to apply their skills and contribute to the country’s development.
The centre has already aligned its curriculum with the national Education 5.0 vision, which prioritises innovation and industrialisation.
