A Bulawayo man aged 56 exhibited his lack of empathy after he r*ped his girlfriend’s niece who had visited their residence to do chores.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Thandekile Ndlovu confirmed the tragic incident saying the culprit has been brought to book.
Police confirms arrest of Edson Zaeko, a male adult aged 56 years of Southworld, Bulawayo, in connection with a case of r*pe.
“On the 4 October 2025 and at around 0800 hours, the victim a female juvenile aged 17 years visited the accused person who is a boyfriend to her aunt to carry out piece jobs of washing clothes as she normally does,” said Assistant Inspector Ndlovu.
She said after finishing the piece job, the complainant was expecting to be paid her USD 5 as usual. “The accused person started caressing her, pushing her onto the bed, removed her clothes, and r*ped her.
“After the act the accused person left the room leaving the complainant to dress up. “He then ferried the complainant to her place of residence gave her USD 10.”
On the 9 October 2025 a police report was made and the accused was arrested.
