Police in Shamva are investigating the m@rder of artisanal miner Spencer Saizi, who was stabbed to death on September 28, 2025, by a machete-wielding gang led by notorious thug Remembrance Matinde and Alias Mutendevere.

According to the Police, the gang attacked Saizi at a local farm, stabbing him in the chest with a knife. He died at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the assailants went on a destructive spree, slashing the left front tire of a parked Howo truck and smashing the window panes of nearby tuckshops.

The incident triggered widespread panic, forcing shopkeepers and truck drivers to flee for safety.

Police have urged the public to provide any information on the gang’s whereabouts and to report to the nearest police station.

The attack highlights ongoing security concerns in Zimbabwe’s artisanal mining communities, where disputes over claims and resources frequently escalate into violence. No motive has been officially stated, but investigations are underway.
